 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

  This is the first and great commandment.

  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him?

Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

  Marvel not, my dear brothers and sisters, if the world hate you.

  We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love everyone.

He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer:

and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:

and we ought to lay down our lives for our brethren.

  s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion

from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue;

but in deed and in truth.

 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

 Beloved, let us love one another: f

or love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

  He that loveth not knoweth not God;

for God is love.

  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son

into the world, that we might live through him.

 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son

to be the propitiation for our sins.

 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another

 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with

all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love,

which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ;

 that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him,

 for we shall see him as he is;

that we may have this hope;

that we may be purified even as he is pure.
